NationTalk: Speaking with reporters on Parliament Hill, Natan Obed (president of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami) Cassidy Caron (president of Métis National Council), and federal ministers Patty Hajdu (Indigenous services) and Gary Anandasangaree (Crown-Indigenous relations) react to the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision to uphold the constitutionality of the federal government’s Indigenous child welfare law.

The 2019 legislation (Bill C-92), which affirms Indigenous nations have jurisdiction over child and family services in their communities, was challenged by Quebec for overstepping provincial jurisdiction. (February 9, 2024)
