Nunatsiavut Government launches series of engagement activities to shape the future of Labrador Inuit communities

April 3, 2024

NationTalk: The Nunatsiavut Government is proud to announce the beginning of a first series of engagement activities as part of the Nunatsiavut Land, Development, and Housing Strategy.

The Nunatsiavut Land, Development, and Housing Strategy is developed by the Nunatsiavut Government in collaboration with Inuit Community Governments. This project’s purpose is to plan future land and housing development of Nunatsiavut communities for the next 20 years.

More precisely, this strategy aims to create sustainable and culturally sensitive development plans that meet the aspirations of all Labrador Inuit communities in a coordinated manner. Today marks the start of a first series of engagement activities, which includes in-person and online activities. In-person engagement activities will be hosted over a two-week period from April 8 to April 18, 2024.

Activities will be organized in Rigolet, Makkovik, Postville, Hopedale and Nain. Activities include Elder and Youth engagement sessions, information booths, council member meetings, and community engagement sessions. The date and time of these activities will be communicated on the Nunatsiavut Government Facebook page.

To allow those that are interested in these activities but are unable to attend in-person, an online survey is available as of today.
